Just when NIKU thought it was safe at last to buy the Ground Penetrating Radar kit and all its paraphenalia comes news that a 'new' geo-prospecting technique is about to revolutionise the manner in which we detect buried archaeological remains....

Well, NIKU actually carried out a test on the use of hyperspectral scanning in collaboration with MA student Ingeborg Meyer a few years back. Some of you might remember her presentation at the CAA conference in Oslo in 2010 (http://www.caa.uio.no/ppt_innlegg/CAA-N_2010/IngeborgMeyer_HyperspektraleSignaturer.pdf)? It is certainly an interesting method but, like most other remote sensing techniques, has its limitations.
